This is getting great reviews and could be Netflix's next big talk about around the water cooler documentary.

    Arrives April 28th.
In 1996, Boulder, Colorado was rocked by the mysterious death of six-year-old pageant queen, JonBenet Ramsey. Two decades later, director Kitty Green returns to audition local actors, unpacking how each remembers and relates to the ill-fated Ramsey family. A darkly moving exploration of crime, guilt and personal bias, Casting JonBenet expertly blurs the lines between documentary and drama

Yeah disappointing -not really what I was expecting. I actually only watched the trailer after watching the show and the tailor looks brilliant-an unmissable show. It didn't live up to that.

I can see what they were going for but I didn't enjoy it that much. It felt very indulgent and empty. It's getting stellar reviews though.

This whole meta-documentary trend can work well when you're trying to disarm people, like The Act of Killing or Theroux's latest doc about Scientology (probably my least favourite of his docs but that worked better than this did) but in this case, we're prying personal stories out of everyday people and it's like, if your point is that the Ramsay case was made into a spectacle with rash judgements on all sides, why make a literal spectacle out of it? What's the point? You're holding a mirror up to society but it's not clear what you want them to see.

I felt a little uncomfortable at times, like the actors had been duped or entrapped.

Absolute rubbish. Offered absolutely nothing new or even insightful on existing info. Also don't get the whole point of showing it from a casting angle. Seemed like a complete waste of time. The whole thing came off like a bunch of locals gathering after the murder and just gossiping.
