Cracked windscreen - insurance procedure

Hi I have noticed that i have a cracked windscreen, about 5 inches long. I have windscreen cover on my insurance. do i contact the insurance company first or can i phone up one of those windscreen replacement companies and get them to take care of the insurance side of things? thanks

Contact your insurance company first. Most have approved repairers. If you go to someone not on their list, you may not be covered for the full cost
