So lads I just read you have to be completed agriculture education to apply for young farmers scheme and national reserve which is a shame for me as over midway through it but anyway. I was planning ahead and had added my name to the father's herd number but have not transferred entitlements. I was wondering now was that the wrong thing to do? When I can't claim anything off it this year should I remove my name because would it go against me for consideration in a future scheme. You know the way they say setting up holding within the last 5 years or the likes. Any thoughts welcome guys!

No point removing it now as counts as "once associated " with a herdnumber , don't worry only 17, 18, 19 left on current YFS, so you may have a lost a year if it is renewed that 5 years will be extended but can't revert now anyway

Thanks for advice. We will still have to transfer entitlements to qualify for BPS?

    ??

No NR so you have no entitlements to transfer , your dads are his and you have been added to his herd number, if you had have done it in 2016 together you would qualify for YFS 25% top up of his existing entitlements

is there any way around the requirement of having completed the green cert course by may 2017? im in middle of course and looks like im going to miss out. am I correct in saying that in previous years one had to have started the course to be able to apply?
    thanks,

What I have noticed with a lot of these DAFM schemes, is that the earlier you can get in the better. Easier said than done I hear you say and due to circumstances it is not always possible.

Once the first tranche gets in, then goal posts inevitably tighten and it's harder from there on in to get the ball over the line.

I luckily enough got in by the skin of my teeth in 2015. Only for I had read and knew the terms and conditions inside out I could have easily lost out. But it's great when you email links to quotes from their own documentation. Beat them with their own stick.

Yes in 2015 you just had to have enrolled in a course. They are saying this new requirement of having to have your Cert completed is due to EU Regulations.

I can't link, but I see a good news article on the farmers journal stating a break through on the young farmer top up of 25% on bps for young farmers farming more than 5 years.

I think it is 25% of national average entitlement rate. This is great news.
