Lone Parent

I applied for lone parent, told them I'm receiving €30 a week maintenance from my son's father (which I am) and got accepted.
He received a letter this week saying he needs to pay me €70 extra based on his wages- so €100 in total.
They've only allowed €50 for rent which is actually €200 p/w and nothing for loans which is an extra €100 p/w. He earns €488 so €30 is really all he can afford.
Can anyone help? Does he just ring up and say he can't afford to pay €100?

Yes he needs to contact them himself. They don't take things like loans into account so after rent and maintenance he has €188 to live on. You have €193 before anything is taken away....

Seems wrong that someone can have €150 coming out of your account and social welfare don't regard it yet if I had €150 coming in they'd be all over it

I'm confused about where you got €150 from?
Maintenance of children should be paid before loans which I would guess is why it's disregarded.

In an ideal world it should but that's not reality.

Ok....but in sw which is what the question is about it is.

I think a discussion about affording a €400 per month loan while only paying €120 for your child is for another place.
