I have the ABS warning light on on my Vauxhall Astra and it judders a bit when braking at speed. Just wondering if a local mechanic could sort this out or is a diagnostic test needed on it? I am going to be selling the car, so want to keep the cost down.

It depends. If there is a glaring issue then maybe a mechanic can spot it without a scan, but most places will waive the scan cost if you get whatever is wrong fixed there.
