Postal Orders

    Hi,

Recently complained to a company (won't name as they were fine to deal with), they apologised profoundly and offered to compensate me for my troubles. I told them I didn't want compensation, would be happy if more stringent QC checks were implemented to ensure problem didn't recur. Today I received an apology by post with postal orders enclosed. While unnecessary I won't look a gift horse in the mouth and am wondering how one goes about cashing said P.O's.

Can anybody advise? Mods apologies if this is wrong forum, I wasn't sure where to post and seemed most appropriate. Please move if necessary.

At the post office, you may need i.d. based on the value of the p.o.

That simple yeah? I feel foolish now. I did think that was too obvious and too simple and would need to lodge them in an account or something. Oh well, we live and learn.

Cheers. Small value but every little helps as they say.

This generation??? How old do you think I am?

Despite the fact I'm in my 40's I've never bought or received a postal order. Given the rules and regulations and checks about everything and anything associated with most forms of banking services (AML, KYC etc etc) required now to simply cash a cheque or open an account I decided, rather than waste my time visiting numerous establishments, to ask online which is the purpose of a forum. So I ask you, why does this makes you feel so superior or smug?

It's generally crossed so you will need to lodge it!

no need for the smart answers - OP wouldn't ask the question if he knew the answer - it is after all, how people learn!!

If it's not crossed, you can cash it at a Post Office.

If it is crossed, you can lodge it into a Post Office savings account, or you can bring it to your bank and lodge it in the same way that you would lodge a cheque.

If it has "A/C Payee Only" or something similar printed or written on it between two parallel lines, then it is crossed.
