Nephew got a car recently and there is a non-standard push button start in it. It doesn't start off the key at all but the key will cut the engine normally. Just wondering if this will be a problem when it is time for the NCT?

Nope , just tell them in advance when handing over the keys.

You can also leave a note on the seat, or a post-it on the steering wheel.
