Twin immersion cylinder fix

I've got a cylinder with two immersion elements, running off an economy 7.
The bottom element is burnt out, leaving just the boost element.
Is it worth replacing or can I just run off the single element?
What should a plumber charge to remove the element that's gone?

Thanks for any help or advice!

I had the same issue not long ago with my boiler.
I only ever use the boost switch when hot water is required.
The boost stopped working and a plumber switched the wiring in the thermostat to use the other element, it took him half an hour. Not something I would do myself but it is possible to switch over the wiring and not use the broken element.
I guess in your case you could use the boost instead of timer, mine heats enough water for a shower in 20 minutes

    Beam me up Scotty.

I've switched the wiring but wondering if I should do a proper repair if it's a hassle to have to get the other element removed. It's stuck pretty tight.

100/150 Euro to supply and fit as a ballpark.

That price would be for a top mounted double immersion.

O.P. has two side fitted immersions which require a complete drain down of the cylinder and two immersions fitted and two lots of electrical connections and testing.
Sometimes the M.T.cocks on the cylinders are useless and getting a full drain down will involve a wet vac.
So it could easily cost 200.00 ish.
