The dearest/most awkward section of the Maynooth Ring Road, planned since 1987 or earlier, is funded. 1.4KM including a bridge over the Dublin-Sligo railway line and the Royal Canal. This will go from the R405 to the R148 at the R157 junction.

Thread on this forum, and the Kildare forum

Other sections are still expected to be built by developers as conditions of housing planning, but this one was scaring them off due to the bridge - last planning application was only going to build one ramp!

I would imagine this, and the developer funded section south, will become the R406 seeing as the R157 was diverted along the Blacklion Road when it was widened in planning for the ringroad about 20 years ago.

In North County Dublin, Donabate Distributor Road has been allocated €15.5m.

The funding for that project is welcome as there has been a significant amount of planning applications lodged for Donabate in the last 6 months. Bernard Mc Namara is back in business with a planning application lodged for houses in Donabate. Also, a preferred bidder has been announced for the Central Mental Hospital (CMH) in Portrane, which is costing €125m.

The Rathbeale Road (Swords) has been allocated €4.9m; Gannon Properties (in partnership with Nama) are building housing on their lands at Oldtown/Mooretown (Millers Glen).
