fitting a valve into copper piping...

looking for some advice in relation to modifying a bit of copper water pipe....

I have a copper pipe that comes out of one wall through a open space (about a meter wide) and into another wall. I want to fit a open/close valve on this piece of pipe somewhere along the exposed meter! I am not sure if I will be able to push either end of the pipe back enough to allow me to fit the valve (I know one end is definitely fixed and won't move)... if I cut it and can get a bit of movement on the pipe then all will be good and i will be able to slot the valve in, but if I cut it and find there is no movement I am not sure of how I can get the valve fitted!!?

One thought I have had is to get a piece of flexible pipe and cut out a longer section of the copper pipe and fit the piece of flexi pipe along side the valve which should work... or is there any other fittings that will let me fit the valve any other way??!

    TIA

What size is the pipe? You may be able to spring it enough to get the valve in. If not, cut an extra inch or two out of the pipe and use a repair fitting like this to bridge the gap.

22mm pipe i think it is, I am hoping for some movement or a bit of spring alright, but I wanted to have a backup plan just incase!, and that will do the job perfect! I was thinking there was probably some sort of fitting for the job but I didn't have a clue what to look for!

    Thanks!

More likely 3/4 inch in Ireland, which is not the same as 22mm.
