The grass in my lawn has started competing with a lot of weeds. My lawn is 3/4 acre so need something to spray weeds with. Having researched I have come across an attachment for my ride on mower.

    https://www.suipco.ie/product/suip/

Has anyone got experience of this or a similar product for their ride on mower? As this product is quite expensive I was wondering has anyone used this and has it been worthwhile. Also what have you sprayed the lawn with?

I have a similar one on my Lawnmower . It has a lance and a boom and I mostly use it for Roundup .

Do you find it worthwhile? I have about 3/4 acre of lawn - how many litres (mixtures of weed killer and water) would I need to spray an area of that size

would you not be better off with a knapsack and a wide spray nozzle and you'd have it done in no time?

TBH that would be a waste of money/time. You need to apply 'lawn sand' - it has sand mixed with a moss killing agent (Ferrous Sulphate) and usually a broadleaf weed killer (something like Mecoprop). If there is a lot of moss you will need to scarify the lawn after a few days, get rid of the dead moss, then put out a growth promoter / fertilizer (NPK for grass). The sprayer you are looking at is a waste of time and money, sorry, but there is no 'easy' way.

It's 3/4 of an acre. That would take forever to complete

I only want to kill weeds. The grass grows extremely fast but with weeds. Was thinking of spraying with grazon 90 or the likes

Seems good idea to me. Two jobs at once! I'm not sure what to apply but I find grazon 90 can knock the grass back a bit so there might be some other product which is better for lawns.

By forever you mean 1-2 hours.

And your probably going to need to do the edges with one anyway because any "weed" killer you use will kill garden plants very easily and drift from a rear mounted sprayer will be hard controlled.

I did this last year. Put out fencing reels 6' apart and off you go. It did a great job.

Have a scotts spreader. Put out sulphate of iron and then a touch of 10 10 20. Having it cut twice already. If a farmer can't grow grass, who can?!

Would take 1-2 hours with the lawn mower attached sprayer but a previous poster mentioned a back pack sprayer. Surely that would take longer than 1-2 hours

I have one of these sprayers. I have about about 1 acre of a lawn. The sprayer would only be of real benefit to you if you are going to use it multiple times per year. For example i use it to kill weeds in the lawn using a selective herbecide but also to feed the lawn multiple times per year with liquid feed and then to spray the gravel driveway with roundup.

Realistically if you're only going to kill weeds in the lawn then u should only be spraying once a year. Use the knapsack.

By the way i find that the best lawn weedkiller is Dicophar followed by Mortox 50.

Great thanks Melon Collie. Is there a feed available that will make lawn look great but slow the growth.

Spread p and k but no nitrogen. 0-7-30 or 0-10-20. Spread half a bag and keep the rest for next year.

Also spread sulphate of iron. You'd use a full 25kg bag easy.

get a nozzle that has a spray with of 1mtr, walk at at 1mtr/sec and you wouldn't be long at it all

    just another option to consider

Yes there is. But it's a granular feed and should be spread out using a hopper and not sprayed. A liquid feed like i mentioned earlier normally is only used during the summer months and perhaps Spetember if there is no rainfall.

Let me know if you are interested and I will PM you the name and seller details

Sorry to resurrect but people here seem to know what's what.

Thinking of getting this: https://www.adverts.ie/quads/quad-mounted-sprayer-new/13290547 and mounting on the back of the ride on.

Could use it for weeds in the garden (1 acre) and for grass and weeds on the laneway.

    Any advice for mounting it?
