I particapted on a Jobbridge's scheme with my local County Council in 2014. I worked in the Recruitment department, treated very well by Mangement and Staff, learned a lot of new skills, but at the end of my placement wasn't kept on, this being due to the Recruitment Embargo in the County Council at the time. I worked hard, treated like a paid Job ,got a very good reference. I wasn't the only one who did a Jobbridge placement with my local County Council. Any way my point here is, and i know most of the people on Boards.ie won't agree with me what i'm about to say but the Council are now going to advertise for Clerical Officer Staff and those people who particapted on Jobbridge Scheme and worked in a Clerical capacity, will have to go through the same format as every one else, first of all the aptitude testing, Numerical, Verbal , Error Checking, then if succesfull and placed in the top 90 called for Interview, all they want is Master Graduates, and forget about the poor fool who did Jobbridge with them. And if somebody says they don't have your records anymore, yes they do on computer and filing system, so there is no excuse. My Point of View here is those who did Jobbridge and worked for free should get those Jobs not Master Garduates who Laugh and Mocked those People. IT VERY WRONG WHATS HAPPING TODAY!!! ONLY RECOVERY FOR THE BIG BOYS. And another thing is most of those who did there Master not all, there parents where Property developers who went bust during the Recession and our Money who paid for there debts also paided for there education.

    It sucks.

Do the tests. Do your best. It might not look like it now, but your experience of Jobbridge, both good and bad, will stand to you. And you can make it work to your advantage if you really want to.

Sounds you have a chip on your shoulder to be honest. Why shouldn't they try and get the best candidate for the job? If you get through the assessment you should have an advantage in the interview stage but, and I don't mean to offend you here, you might want to brush up on your grammar if you are going for a clerical position.

I have a Masters and I apply for Clerical Officer roles - trust me, in no way does it give me an advantage or let me bypass any stage of the assessment process.

If you have previous worked in this job/ panel and are called for interview, then that is your opportunity to let them know you have previous experience and can successfully carry out the duties of the role. If you provide them with clear examples of your previous employment in that specific role, then it gets noted at interview. Plus you stated above that you got on well with the management and staff in your department - you will need to provide a reference from them so this will stand to you.

Focus on yourself, your strengths as an employee and how to shine at interview stage and ignore all the other applicants.

It is an absolute requirement for jobs like that to be publicly advertised with the aptitude testing you refer to, for obvious reasons. Everything is above board and equal for all applicants when done like this. I would completely oppose the idea that they should limit their pool to whoever they previously had under internship and work experience programmes.

As stated above, post-graduate qualifications don't help you at all in getting on Clerical Officer panels. It based entirely on assessment, aptitude tests, interviews. In my opinion, testing works very well in getting the best candidates for the positions.

Clerical Officer wages are far from the "big boys" you speak of.
