Self-Employed Assistance

My Back to Work Enterprise Allowance is ending in a few weeks. I currently get 75% of the payment as I'm in my 2nd year. Although I'm making a profit and working 70+ hours a week, there's still no way I could live off what I take home.

Is there any other type of assistance I can get for say another year does anyone know? My first year was a loss and I turned it into a profit but I really think you need a minimum of 3 years to get properly going.

I'm sure they'd tell me if I asked them but I'll be in for a wrapping up meeting in a few weeks but I'd prefer a heads up on my options if any! before then.

    Thank you.

You can apply for jobseekers allowance and have your income from self employment assessed as means.

Thanks for the reply. Is there any formula for working it work so I have an idea beforehand? I could only find the formula for employed income, the one that deducts €20
for each day work to a max of €60 and the balance assessed at 60% but that would leave me with nothing as I work 6 days a week and I'm coming into my quietest time, the summer.

With self employed you will be asked for your most recent profit and loss accounts while you have been on BTWEA. Means from self employment is assessed euro for euro after any reckonable expenses are deducted. This is done for a year and divided down weekly.

Ok just wondering if it's worth going through the means test or not though. If I'm making a profit of €250 per week after expenses will that be too high to get anything from JA do you think?

If its just for yourself it probably will be but if you have an adult dependant or child dependants then you should apply. You should still apply.
