Is it a good idea to email & enquire about job application?

Well known Irish brand advertised job on their Facebook page...applications by email, no closing date on job ad.

I emailed my CV day after job ad went up, which was 2 weeks ago

How long is an acceptable amount of time for a business to consider all CVs and ask people to come in for interviews?

I want to email them and ask about this but I don't want to look cheeky. Also I'm afraid incase my email went through to them as junk mail and perhaps they don't even have my CV

Definitely chase it. It shows initiative not cheekyness. I'd possibly call them

So my email to the company on 30th march asking if position had been filled yet has still not been responded to. This company has a very active social media presence and seemingly lots of PR events etc. How difficult is it for a business to simply respond to an email?

I want to know has my application been received, has the position been filled etc but really I don't want to email a third time.

The email might have went to spam/junk and not been seen, I know what you mean though you don't want to keep contacting them, I'd be the same, you could ring up and ask about it, if you have a number, just tell yourself what's the worse can happen.

May be worth your while contacting them on facebook or twitter to see if your email was received.

Thanks guys. I've just messaged them on Facebook and received an automated message to email them, the same email address I've had no response from 😂 If they don't respond to that I'll have to try other avenues. Can't find a phone number for them at the moment

The sad reality is that if a load of people replied to the ad they may only be contacting the people they are interested in speaking to. This doesn't mean that you should give up hope yet, they may have not reviewed all resumes yet. Also, even if you are not in the initial list of people they would like to speak to a lot of recruiters are reluctant to contact people to tell them they have been rejected incase their first choices don't work out and they have to go back to the 2nd choice people.

Another sad reality is quite often they just don't bother. Contact them 2/3 times by email but after that I'd move on if you don't have a phone number for the recruiter.
