Will buying packaged protein-free food from the UK be stopped?

I need a low protein source of flour which can't be purchased anywhere here in Ireland. I've seen that some UK companies sell it on ebay and I definitely know an Italian one that ships to Ireland.

My problem is whether it will be allowed by Customs? I know Ireland can be a bit of nanny state with overegulation on products that are legally sold in other European countries and I don't know whether purchasing food online is only prohibited from outside the EU or from any country in general.

I don't really want a letter any to waste money so could someone please clarify?

Inside the EU its no problem (except booze where you'll have a large bill for Duty). No medicines though.

Outside the EU there are some Agri regs but its mainly about raw foods that might have seeds or insects.

For example, Soylent (powdered food) can be imported no problem.

Would penis numbing sprays come under medicines?

They contain the anesthetic benzocaine but in 5% quantities so I wonder whether that's alo legal to import.

Probably best to get on to Customs and /or the Irish Medicines Board directly with enquiries like that. They may require more specific information before making a decision.

If it's food there's no reason why it would be subject to any unusual regulations. Medicines are regulated.

The UK leaving the customs union might cause issues eventually though but you could always shop online on the continent

Can u not get that tortowa flour in the polish shops, that's 9% i think, how low are u looking for? Give a brand name you want to an independent green grocer and they'd get it for ya.

Wtf are you at with the numbing stuff?

    Would be considered medicines.

Benzocaine 5% is a medicinal product which is available over the counter, but you can't buy medicinal products by mail order, even non-prescription ones. Your penis numbing spray, if detected, would be liable to confiscation in the post.

    Really? May I ask where?

It's not a sarcastic question but I've just searched online and in stores. Pretty sure with the exception of Durex 'Extended Pleasure' condoms, there are no benzocaine containing products available OTC in ROI.

I mean, it can lawfully be sold.

As you say, as a coating on certain condoms is the only way it is commonly found.

But if you want to find it in penis numbing cream, Shops That Supply That Kind Of Thing can lawfully sell it, and no doubt they do.
