Dishwasher and washing machine sharing standing pipe

Hi, am helping my friend move into a house and installing a new dishwasher and washing machine side-by-side in the kitchen.

The outlets from both appliances need to share the one standing pipe. Seems like the previous owner attached a self-tapping connector to the side of the standing pipe to do this - see attached photo. Unfortunately this connector is too big to connect to either outlet hose, and I can't fit both outlet hoses into the top of the standing pipe!

What's the standard approach here? Any suggestions appreciated thanks!

As it is looks to be just standard 1 - 1/2"' (one and a half inch) marley waste pipe it's an easy fix.

    Go and buy 3 m of 1 - 1/2 marley, a bottle of pipe solvent, a 90' elbow, a "T" piece and 3 pipe clips.
I would personally start by cutting the horizontal pipe tight against the 90'.

Glue a T connector onto the remaining horizontal piece with the branch facing up, glue and fit a new length of vertical pipe into the branch with a retaining clip 4" from the top of the pipe.
Glue and fit approx a 4" piece of pipe into the horizontal end of the T and fit a retaining clip midway on this piece.
Glue fit a 90' elbow onto this 4" piece with open end facing up and glue and fit a new length of vertical pipe into the 90', fitting a retaining clip approx 4" from the top of this pipe as well.
Use plenty of glue on all connections.
Now you have two secure vertical standpipe connections.
