What sort of land are beekeepers looking for?

We have some horse pasture and bog land in west wicklow. There is a stream running through the property and a small pond.

Durin the summer our garden is full of honey-bees, we were talking about letting someone park a hive here, but we weren't sure if the land was interesting enough for bee keepers.

also - how often would the person need to be accessing the hive?

Best place for bees is somewhere where they are not going to be disturbed and with forage opportunities in a several kilometres wide circle. One garden is not enough for a bee colony, unless your garden is a mile wide ;) Bees like not only flowering meadows and fields, but also flowering trees. Hedges usually provide a lot of forage (gorse, blackberries).

It depends, but I would say once, or twice each 2 weeks during April - June, then once in 2-4 weeks in July-October and then couple of visits between November and the next March.
