AXA Drivesafe app - Does it have to be installed on my primary phone?

The drivesafe app doesn't allow you use Android auto at the same time. What I was thinking of doing is installing Android auto on a spare phone and leaving it in the car. Has anyone done this before? Will I run into any issues? I will tether my own phone to the spare phone so it has a data connection to send data to AXA.

Can't see why not but I think you need to connect it up to internet every so often for data to be scored and logged.

Least that seems too be case for my AIG one.
