Yeah, you need to get fuel. That's what the light is for. 50 miles isn't that much.

You only have about 12% left. If that was your phone, you'd be charging it.

Fuel light comes on, when fuel level is low - not totally gone yet.

    Is that an A4?

The fuel light usually comes on when you have about 50/60 on the fuel gauge.

    Just a reminder is all.

Edit: I cant believe any of us answered that question.

It's letting you know to put some fuel into it.
Even with fuel light lighting on and people seeing they've very few miles left in the tank, countless people every day of the week run out of fuel

It would be a fairly useless system if the light came on when there were zero miles left...

Your fuel gauge is in the red that's why the light comes on. as said above 50 miles is not a lot

And your handbrake is on and your lights.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,431 ✭✭✭rottie 11

I never noticed it on before unless it was down to around 10-15 miles

I just had a look at the pic again OP.

Looks like you need an new car in 50 miles. Im selling my old A4 if you need another one.

No petrol gauge is accurate enough to tell you that you have only 15 miles worth of driving left.

And don't drive around on fumes, it's bad practice.

Mine comes on at 80km left in the tank, which is 49.71 miles in old money. Maybe your car is just a bit more dramatic ;)

Edit: after looking at the pic again, another slightly telling sign is your fuel gauge in the red.

I used to dread that exact same light on my S4 :(

    *Shudder*

Car sucks in all the crud at the bottom of the tank which can cause problems depending on the cars fuel system.

If it's a diesel components lubricated by the fuel itself can burn out more quickly over time.

Do you reckon that caused the problem ?

    I'm genuinely worried

I think it's a reminder that you're nearly out of milk in the fridge. Nothing worse than getting home and having no milk for your corn flakes.
