Average processor at best, not enough RAM, tiny HDD, old OS short warranty. Not worth it at all IMO.

Whats the laptop model and processor model? Theres a reason there not displaying it as i would say that laptop is from around 2008/2009 i would say. And a 90 day warranty. Thats quite funny.

Just from looking at it 50 would be the most I'd pay.

Even the name Compaq gives it away, hp gave up that pretence years ago.

A chrome book around the same price would be a much better bet.

Careful now. Those pictures don't seem right. I was trying to find what model it could be.

    So the specs are:
    14.1" screen
    Core i3.

Pictures suggest it's a hp probook. But it has a built in number pad in the pictures, but I can't see any HP ProBooks with a 14.1" screen with a numpad.

Anyway, I'd avoid. You're buying an unknown model, likely company old stock with cheap batteries installed. Old and slow, and not cheap enough to take a punt.

Deffo something dodgy going on there. The pictures and battery(model 6530 is on it) are 6530b which was a core 2 duo processor.Never came in an i3 as far as I can remember.

Run far far away, certainly not a bargain!

2G would not be 'fine for everyday use'

Better off getting a new low-end Pentium based laptop. For €180 you're getting a 1st gen i3 with 2GB of ram and a tiny 160Gb hard drive, probably from about 2009.

Not tough, just trying to increase awareness of the less knowledgeable folk who may think that this is a genuine bargain. It most certainly is not.

Thanks for posting OP but really not worth the money, better off keeping an eye on Amazon Warehouse Deals for a few Euro more and get something like an i5, more RAM etc for not much more.
I picked up a better spec'd laptop than this with a years warranty after XMas 2015 for €200, can't link because Warehouse deals are all one-offs but reading my Amazon account it was a Asus X551CA-SX130H and it was spotless

    This isn't a bargain.

    And it's not even new.

Core i3 is next to meaningless as there's been seven generations of them since 2010.

Neither microsoft or intel release updated drivers for the first generation so things like miracast just don't work. not a biggie , unless you use it to cast stuff to your TV.

    2GB RAM ? My Phone has 2GB

    check models here

Pretty much everything has already been said, different models in photo 1 + 3, no model number etc..
The only deals i have ever seen on any of those 'deal' sites are the odd cheap weekend away. I have never seen a genuine deal for a physical product on any of those sites, ever.
Which also sometimes has me wondering about the price of the weekend breaks.

i3 350m so first generation i3 with the crappy graphics

14" might be handy for travel but 5.5lbs and an ancient battery aren't

The thread seems to have ended, but I thought I'd add my thoughts.

I bought a HP 6550b about two years ago on eBay for Stg 75, topped up the RAM to 8GB for a few quid and added a 120GB SSD to the 'puny' 160GB HD using a hard drive caddy in place of the DVD drive. Also added a 3 x USB3 Express Slot Card. Total investment about €180 and am totally satisfied - currently have about 50 tabs open in Firefox as well as a plethora of PDFs, etc and it's running like a dream. Only thing I'm missing is a HDMI port, which I don't need anyway.

I have the misfortune to have people regularly arrive at my door because their new laptops are "running slow". I try to explain that an older laptop with lots of RAM and an SSD (albeit with a few knocks and dents on the case) would give a much better experience, but people still insist on buying the shiny new toys. Guess the salesmen in Currys and PC World know better than me.

Currently, you can get a HP ProBook with i5 for little money on eBay and given enough RAM and an SSD, it would give years of use. Of course, the battery will be poor, but that can be ignored if the laptop is primarily used as a desktop or corrected by buying a replacement on eBay. I do like to see an original charger on used laptops, as replacement chargers generally seem to be poor quality.

Finally, when the i3 stars to stagger (or more likely, when MS finally stops support for W7), I'll install Linux and keep going for another few years. Drat, I'd love an excuse to upgrade to an i5 or even i7, but looks like I'll have to wait...
