Exporting cars

    Hi Guys,

First and foremost, I am in the motor trade. Hopefully its ok to post this here. If not then mods feel free to remove.

Due to the current insurance market I am taking in lots of trade ins that would be in the older age bracket of cars.... .1998-2003. Alot of these cars are in perfectly good condition but I am really struggling to sell these on to smaller traders because they in turn cannot sell them on to privateers because insurance companies wont insure new drivers in them.

Has anyone any thought or could anyone point me in the right direction as to how to go about exporting these cars to African countries where I hear there is a market for these cars.

    TIA

I did it for a while and it's a cut throat business. You haven't much chance unless you're there on the ground, or very close mates with somebody who is. Dominated by a lot of Lebanese businessmen who guard their patch, usually with violence.

Your best bet is to build up a relationship with Africans who will buy the cars off you here and do with them what they want.

    Cash only.
    No excuses.
    No exceptions.

Also try the same with Eastern Europeans. Or consider opening up a breakers/scrappage yard with a strong online presence, but there's a lot of ground work in that.
