Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Galway Rapidplay 2017: Saturday 27 May

    The annual FIDE-rated Galway Rapidplay will be held on Saturday 27 May, in the Bridge Centre, St Mary’s Road, Galway; games will start at 11 a.m., but entrants must arrive by 10.45 to register. Full information will be posted here in the next few days. There is a guaranteed prize fund of €550, which will increase if there are more than 50 entries.

    Just a final reminder that the FIDE-rated Galway rapidplay is this Saturday (27 May).  Entries are coming in fairly slowly so far, so you all seem to be leaving it to the last minute; which is fine, but please do make sure to get your entries in by midday on Friday.  You enter by emailing Galwaychess [at] gmail [dot] com giving your name (or the name of whoever you want to enter), and then pay the entry fee of €15 when you arrive at the venue - the Galway Bridge Centre - between 10 and 10.50 a.m. on Saturday 27th.  It couldn't be simpler.

    If you miss that, and wake up on Saturday with a strong urge to play some chess, you can still enter by turning up at the Galway Bridge Centre before 10.45; but entering that late will cost you a little more.

    A map showing the location of the Galway Bridge Centre is available here.  The tournament rules, including the list of prizes, are here.  The rate of play will be 15 minutes plus an increment of ten seconds per move.

    We will provide all sets and clocks, and there will also be refreshments and sandwiches available to purchase at the venue (at very reasonable prices); so you don't need to bring anything with you.
