Cabinet water softener issue

I'm using a cabinet water softener and the brine tank is not sealed at the top and debris and dead insects get in to the tank.

The top parts of the brine tank have been sealed where possible but the cut out for the resin tank is inaccessible and therefore not sealed.

The softened water isn't directly ingested as there's a separate unsoftened drinking water supply tap at the kitchen sink but it is used for washing and teeth cleaning.

Does this preset a health hazard?

    Thanks in advance.
