Quick question my car is goin in for a nct next week. Got a full service done on the car about 6 weeks ago. Just wondering would the headlights alignment been checked as standard on a full service?

Just worried as I heard that this is one of biggest failure of nct

    No, that's usually not checked.
With any service - ask for an itemised bill, that way you will know what "full" service entails, as this will vary from garage to garage and brand to brand.

As to nct fails for any year you can check their statistics
    https://www.ncts.ie/1127
The main failure items for 2016 were:
    1 : Tyres *
    2 : Front Suspension.
    3 : Brake Line / Hoses
    4 : Headlamp Aim. <<<<<<<<<<<<< there ya go :)
    5 : Stop Lamps.

I presume any issues with tyres would just be a visual thing and would not require booking in for a retest and additional charges???

Would it be worth getting the headlights alignment checked prior to the nct even tho I got a full service 6 weeks ago and got a couple of small bits done?

My car is nearly 10 year old and I just squeeze it in for a test next Wednesday and will be issued 2 year cert if it passes before the 4 April

There is no particular need to get things checked before test, unless it is glaring issues with lamps or doors not opening etc.

Just get it tested and fix what they find.

This is what they will test it on https://www.ncts.ie/media/1004/nct-manual-july-2014.pdf
