Hi all, quick question regarding hurling hand passing.

Is it allowed when hand passing to say, thrown ball up with left hand and bandpass with right without touching ball on hurl in between? I understand the hurl must never be dropped. It is my understanding that you must touch ball on hurl first before bandpass with opposite hand? Is this correct? If anyone has a link to this rule or where i might get it i would really appreciate it...Thanks!

Yes that is fine, throw up ball with the left hand, swap Hurley from right to left and handpass with the right hand...perfectly legal

That's perfect thanks. No need to tip on the hurl before handpassing with left hand so.....

Richie Hogan is excellent at that opposite hand pass
He also sells a great dummy hand pass with the reverse hand

I thought the topic might be about the normal handpass. Maybe all handasses should be as you describe. It would do away with what is now a fancy throw.

It is quite difficult for a ref to determine if the pass is legal. Would it be best to allow a throw and be done with it? What harm would it do? Would it speed the game up? Just a thought.

    It would
It would mean players would be catching the ball three times
There should be clear daylight between the ball and hand

The game is fast enough. I wouldnt like to see a throw being allowed. I certainly would like to reduce the number of passes in a row to 1. In other words if you receive a handpass you must let it go with the hurl.

I think to dummy a reverse hand pass the ball must touch the stick first. Otherwise its just throwing the ball from left to right hand, which is not allowed.
