    Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone has any experiences with Ethiopian Airlines. Looking at Capetown, via Addis Ababa, in October and the price difference in comparison to other airlines is substantial (€505 v €840).

Flight times etc. all look fine and reading online there seems to be mixed reviews, no more really than any other airline.

    Any feedback would be great.

    Thanks,

I looked at similar recently , flight to Ethiopia is an Dreamliner but the second flight is on an Ryanair type and plane. Which might be abut much for 6 hours.

Another option which was the cheapest I came across was via Istanbul with Turkish airlines. Emirates via Dubai was also a cheap option

Flew Ethiopian to Delhi via Addis Ababa. B787 down to Addis and a B737 up to Delhi. The airline themselves were top notch. Only issue is Addis Ababa is a bit of a dump but that's to be expected. Would recommend them.

Flew Ethiopion to Addis last year; very happy with aircraft and service, compares very favourably with what you'd be offered by Aer Lingus, for example. Would have no problems recommending it.

They're fine...just fine though. They've some unbeatably cheap fares so can't fault them really. Service is same as others but wouldn't be as slick and professional. They're safe and punctual. Addis airport is a kip...an expensive kip!!

I find the evening departure flight from Dublin really awful...you arrive into Addis around 5am having only had a few hours sleep. But that's the same for any flight heading east when the flight duration is circa 8 hours

If booked them to L.A. for Aug. Aer Lingus were coming in at €950 Ethiopian €550 return and Direct.
    Happy Days

I flew them to Entebbe, Uganda last year and it was fine and the savings was good. I wanted to fly a Star Alliance airline for the frequent flier miles and the only other major option was Turkish Airlines. Istanbul were (still are) having security issues so I was a bit worried about it.

However to tell you the truth, the initial experience on Ethiopian Airlines was less than ideal. We boarded the plane in Dublin that had just arrived from Los Angeles. The passengers who were continuing on to Addis Ababa were not allowed off. That was like half the plane. This meant that the plane was a complete mess since it really hadn't been cleaned after an 11 hour flight. People were still sleeping across multiple seats, there was an elderly woman who didn't speak English sitting in my seat, and the seatback pockets contained rubbish. So my advice is to bring some cleaning wipes on the airplane to clean off your area and tray yourself :)

Otherwise the flight was smooth and on time and reasonable. Like said before, the airport in Addis is not much to look at. Plus their lounge was among the saddest I've even seen. However for convenient routing for our trip to Uganda and for the price we paid it was acceptable.
