Boiler Water Pump not Circulating

So the circulator pump installed beside our oil boiler stopped working yesterday, and we switched it out for a new one.

The system was drained and we put in a new Dab pump with the large arrow pointing the same way (down) as the old one.

However, while the pump is spinning it doesnt seem to be moving the really hot water in the pipes coming out of the top of the boiler through the pump.

The pipes at the top are hot, the pipes below the pump are cool. Im 99% sure the arrow on the pump is pointed down.

Could this be caused by an air lock somewhere, or did I put the pump in upside down?

I'd say the system is air locked, or have you opened the valves on the new pump?.

Actually, yes, thats exactly what the problem was. I did that and it moved the water through fine.

Next problem is that I think the thermostat on the boiler got fried being too hot.

Boiler engineer is coming tomorrow though thankfully :)

The hi-limit on the thermostat has tripped. There may be a black cap on the thermostat.Unscrew this black cap and press in the reset pin.It should be ok then
