As the title says, looking to get a detachable towbar fitted to a BMW F11 and no idea who to go to. Couple of places on the internet but know nothing about them and since bumper will be removed, sensors etc I want to make sure job is done right.

Wouldn't go near main dealer...can only imagine what they'd charge for the same job. Any recommendations?

There's an established place in Rathmines. No idea what they're like. http://www.malcolms.ie/

I was just about to say the same.
I did some work in their place a few years back and they seemed to be very busy, yet very efficient. Place was kept tidy and certainly no signs of any dodgy workmanship.

Towing Equipment as well. Oak Road just off the Naas Road, in behind Frank Keane. 01 456 6780

Used both and can't fault either. Think Malcolms use Witter bars and Tow Equip use Thule / Brinks, so of equal quality.

Circa 550 fitted is what I'd expect to pay for a detachable bar on a 5 Series.

Did you choose a place in the end? Looking to get a tow bar on my 2008 Hyundai Tucson. Don't want to be paying over the odds

Didn't get the towbar yet but got a price from both and they were the same. €540 on the BMW touring. Good price in my opinion.

Ive used both....equally good IMHO. I'd say just use whichever is closest..or if you prefer one or the other brand of towbars...

So I won't went for the cheap option. I went to different breakers around Dublin. Found a towbar with electrics for 70euro. Jacked the car up out the back then me and a friend put it on. Took two hours from start to finish including the bumper cut. I haven't a clue when it comes to electrics so I brought it to my local garage. Mechanic hooked up the electrics and done a check on the tow bar. Total cost 100euro (plus a small scar on my hand 😂)

Fair play. What type of car is it?

It's a Hyundai Tucson, it was surprisingly easy to install. I found the hardest part lining up the wholes. I read online instructions and watched a YouTube video. It's help in by 8bolts and two brackets. I can't speak for all cars but with mine once you know how to use a spanner you have all the skills to do it. I done a 'test' on it myself. Tied a rope around the towbar, put the handbrake on and pulled the Tucson with a landcruiser. All bolts still as tight as before and was approved by a mechanic
