Oil burner query

Looking for advise please. I've a rented house, oil fired, back boiler. Last tenants did not use the oil & the burner (outside) is rusted, basically banjaxed & needs replacing. Getting ready for new tenants. What would be the cheapest but reliable type of burner? The little shed the burner is in isnt great & hard to insulate, are indoor burners allowed anymore? Any grants for landlords? The house is less than 1,000 sq feet and compact so not hard to heat. Thanks in advance

    That sounds a right mess.

Indoor boilers are allowed and prevalent. Modular boilers are also an option. Shouldn't be difficult to get someone to have a look. You could try oftec.org for a list of local techs, if you don't have a regular guy, or know someone locally.

Please follow site and charter rules. "Resistance is futile"

    OR
You could ask somebody here if their local.

Oil boilers come in three types,
    Indoor has white paneling.
Outdoor has its own galvanized hut.
Basic looking, but identical to the above for garage, shed, or indoor if you dont mind the look.

One of the biggest reason landlord's loose tenants is due to heating running costs with old boilers.
So a new boiler ( There all high efficent A rated now) will please everybody.

There's no grant for only replacing boiler by it's self. But there is if your also upgrading the heating to a zoned system.

    NOTE
There's plenty of proper registered professionals who chose not to be on the OFTEC list. :)

Ask Grant boilers (made in Offaly) for recommendation of somebody in your area.
IMHO their boiler is the best.

Thanks guys for helpful replies. Yes Tom I was advised to get Grant (outdoor)... got a quote over the phone of €1,950 fitted etc and waiting for others. Previous tenants were "alternative" & got by on back boiler & jumpers (concientious objection to burning oil!). Tenants before them were tight with money , although not with the rent!
