    Hi Guys,

thinking about taking a sabbatical in 2018 and looking for any tips/advice

I would like to go east about, see a little bit of Eastern Europe/Russia, then down to Thailand/Cambodia/Vietnam, possibly up the Japan and then onto USA,

Ideally the time budget is about 2 Months, fiscal budget is ~€10k

I plan on doing the majority of this trip on my own, I have friends dotted around the world that I would like to visit along the road so that will help cut some accom costs, I would like to travel some of it by rail but realise that due to time constraints air will be much more efficient!

    any suggestions very welcome!

Currently on the road, and the only advice I can give is to take enough time in each location. 7 months and we haven't been able to do anywhere justice. If you rush things you'll spend all your time traveling not enjoying the sights, smells, people and beer :-)

    Two months is very short.

I did simular - with a month in Australia/Fiji/New Zealand as well - and took five months. Even then, I was rushing places - but that's a trade off you'll have to judge at times. See more places, or see fewer places better?

Also, consider how to travel between places. Land is by far the best option, but it's slower (eg the Trans-Siberian). Flights are quicker but far less interesting, and you've restrictions such as must keep travelling east on rtw tickets, for example.
