Root canal problem

    Hi,

I had a filling done in november. Two months later, found out it then needed a root canal.

Had the root canal done, finishing up about 3 weeks ago.

Didn't feel right afterwards and a few days ago got an x-ray done at a different dentist where I found out it needs to be redone. My understanding is that it wasn't complete or done properly the first time.

I imagine the first dentist might offer to go at it again, but considering, both a failed filling and failed root canal (along with some other sketchy aspects), the risk is very unappealing and i've used the 2nd dentist before without problem.

would there be any grounds for a partial refund at the very least?

thanks in advance for any replies

Was the first guy a specialist?

    I dont think so.

They mentioned something along that lines though for the second one where I got the x-ray done, if I remember correctly. another reason i'm much prefer to go there.

or should only specialists do root canals in the first place? The diagnosis was a bit of a shock originally as there didn't seem to be worry of the filling turning bad.

(im not a dentist) but my preference would be something that's complicated.. get a specialist.

If the first one didnt work, you're probably sure to be referred to an Endodontist (specialist)

would there be a difference it how sometimes root canals dont work and just a procedure that wasn't done properly though? which is the impression I got from the 2nd dentist, as they asked me a few times if I was *sure* the first dentist had finished our last appointment and I didn't have any left.

I definitely 100% would prefer to go to the (as I know now) more qualified dentist, but the financial constraint already means I will have to wait probably longer than I should.

There is a difference between a root canal not carried out properly and failure for other reasons...

Can you not ask the second dentist who took the x ray why it has to be redone and find out for definite?
No one here can answer that...

    sorry for the confusion

The 2nd dentist definitely said/implied it wasn't done properly.

i'm just have no idea what the expectation level for a refund in circumstances like this would be. as in whether it's usually tough luck (the same as a natural complication) or if it would usually be an expected outcome.
