    Hi.
Just want to know if HF is a favourite with anyone on the forum.
Like to know what kit you use and where you listen.
I have made up a list of some 50 volmet stations around the world and its great when you hear far off comms from Aus & the states asia etc.

well that`s that as they say.
    Regards,
    Knocker.

I hate listening to HF with a passion, even with a great headset i find it annoying and extremely hard to listen to. I have to do it as a source of information and ATC communications, but I'm amazed that someone gets enjoyment out of listening to it, fair play to you.

I used to quite a lot, I have my amateur radio licence and everything, but lately have put all of that on hold due to too many commitments. There's a forum for amateur radio on boards too, you might get a better response there.

As to what smurf said, I guess there is a bit of difference whether you use it for fun or for work.. If I'd have to use it for work, in all honesty I would echo what he said fully

Presume you have selcal on your a/c Smurfjed?

Agree that listening to it over a long period of time can be quite tiring but Selcal makes it a non event. Check in and volume down.

SELCAL is the prime cause of my frustration as we have to do a SELCAL check on every initial preflight 😀
We have a department of dedicated radio operators with specific company frequencies so our use of HF can be quite extensive.

Ah I see, so you have to use it even if you arent entering a HF region, that changes it a bit.
