    hi

hope someone can help, just wondering if anyone knows if you're a vat-registered farmer and you purchase stock off an unregistered farmer can you claim the vat back? The accountant said no but read an article in the journal that said you can - can anybody clarify for me please?

    Many thanks

but they can add the 5.2% flat rate addition to the sale which theoretically i should be able to reclaim, or does it have to show in receipt that they charged this?

I would be very interested in the answer to this question as I am in the same boat. I claimed the vat back but I wouldn't be 100% certain that I should have.

Flat rate top up 5.4% for farmers to compensate for vat paid

As far as I know ,sales by unregistered farmers are deemed to include the flat rate addition of( currently )5.4%. That being the case a registered farmer can claim back this .When the registered farmer disposes of cattle to factory the vat rate is included in the overall quote but rate is 4.8% and this is then in total VAT computation for the two month period.Crystal clear ? Lakill should be able to clarify.

are you fully vat registered like a VAT 3 every 2,4 or 12 months or are you thinking vat58?

you would need to amend your previous vat3 filed with revenue. have you declared the vat on sales also and notified marts & factories your registered for vat?

If you are fully VAT registered does it ever cause problems if you are reclaiming more than you are paying?

sometimes it leads to "aspect queries " if the amount is over €1500/2000 in any bi monthly vat period. its really that's a very easy to satisfy the requirement of the query and very standard in the last 24/30 months

vat3 - every 2 months, just bought in some stock last few years for fattening, it'd be handy if i could reclaim some of the vat on these, just wondering how many years i could go back

i know i can claim back if i purchase from mart/vat-registered farmer, this is from guy down the road, would he have to give me a proper receipt or would the draft/cheque, compliance cert and the blue cards be proof enough etc?
