Hi folks looking for help to pick car.
Looking at 3 cars all low mileage, all 1.6 diesels, all around 2012-2014.
I want to know which you feel is best mechanically.
Skoda octavia , Volvo v40, or Ford Focus.

I have driven them all, and think they are all nice to drive, Ford seems nippiest with great steering, then Volvo then Skoda.

Mechanically which has the most to worry about? Ford Focus hear about dpf problems, dual mass flywheel problems etc.
The volvo I hear has notchy gearbox.
Don't hear much about the Skoda mechanically but I'm no mechanic.

Please any help or advice or personal experience would be much appreciated, they will all cost roughly the same by the way.

The Focus and the V40 are basically the same cars mechanically so reliability will be similar. Some Volvo parts however can be expensive and only sourced from Volvo dealers. The Octavia uses the same engine used throughout the VAG group cars. Like most modern diesels they all can suffer from things like EGR, DPF and DMF problems at some stage.

Thanks for the reply, I hope that we can get a discussion going about this topic I'll be having to make a move on a car next week and I need some experienced voices to chime in.
