Liverpool Workhouse or Infirmary

    I believe my grandmother had a child at 144a Brownlow Hill in Liverpool in 1921. I found the Liverpool History Society blog (below) which says that this was a workhouse but after the 1920's it became an infirmary where mothers could give birth. I'm wondering if anyone here knows what date the workhouse became an infirmary as I would like to know if it was still a workhouse, could the baby have been adopted? This particular branch of my tree has just disappeared completely and I think change of names might be the reason.

    Fascinating reading on that link. It even gives names of the staff and inmates much earlier than my era of research but interesting to note there were almost 1,000 inmates who had been born in 'Ireland', many others list their actual Irish counties, so there is a lot of Irish interest there and I expect in other workhouses in England also. I still don't have my answer but more work to do so. Thanks all.
