Alternative to letter box and fixed post box.

Not sure if this is the correct place for this query? We've just bought a house, directly out on a main street. We got a great price for a new front door. It does not come with a letter box. We thought of attaching a box to the wall by the door. Because it's a busy area we will get a lot of junk mail and advertisements. My worry is the times we are away this box will fill up and it will be very obvious that there is no one home, an invite to burglars. Also, when it fills with junk there will be no space for the important stuff. Is it a done thing to have a letter box style of thing drilled into the wall of the house so that post will fall directly into the hall? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Thanks Dardania, it does address some issues but still leaves us with no way of receiving courier or Amazon etc. But thanks for that as it could go part way to sorting it out.
