Sony Bravia CAM slot & paid subscription channels

I have just tuned a sony bravia for astra 28.2e and got all the extra hd channels that sky don't provide (c4hd, itvhd, etc) even though I pay extra for hd package from sky. Got some uhd demo channels too.

Can I get a CAM card reader for the CAM slot that my legit paid for sky card will work in so i can combine all my hd channels rather than flicking from one to the other?

I know my card works in most freeview boxes out here now with card readers so if its a paid for subscription card it's surly not illegal?

The ability to decode Sky HD is built into the Sky HD box hardware so there is no alternative I know of. I would imagine it is illegal to use their card elsewhere under Skys T&Cs.

Yes, Sky card will not work in other devices due to Sky preventing such use.

I would think 'illegal' is too strong though.
Certainly contrary to Sky's terms & conditions of use, but not illegal as such (if it could be made to work).
Sky would be entitled to kill the card if they were aware of such use, but not bring the user before a court.
That is my understanding .... but am open to correction. ;)

OK illegal IS probably too strong a word. 'Contravene T&Cs' might be closer. :)

I look after a lot of holiday houses and rather than lugging a sky box down I install a bog standard ariva box with card reader and its good to decode any channel sky encrypt (sky sports/discovery/movies etc..) with a legit paid sky subscription card.

My question is these card readers slot into the back of the new sony bravia tv, are they one reader reads all cards?

Where can i get the reader that fits into the CAM slot in the back of the tv?

The Sky HD encryption is hardware based. To my knowledge nothing other than an official Sky box will decode it.

There are no legal hardware CAMs licenced for use with Sky. Sky's terms and conditions as pointed out do not allow use of a Sky viewing card in a third party receiver.

This being the case I am closing this thread
