Engine Compartment Mains Conductors

Looking for advise on cable spec to run through an engine compartment around a MerCruiser.

    I'm helping a friend with his 12volts.

What's installed is a 3.7kVA shore supply and feed to submain distribution on very poorly installed unprotected 3 x 2.5mm² Artic Cable.

This just looks wrong to me. What is recommended cable for this Application?
For the time being I want to sleeve it in polyamide, split flexible conduit.

Should this cable not ideally be high temp. tolerant? Petrochemical resistant? Mechanically shielded for intance SWA? or in a conduit?
