Thinking of getting oil central heating installed

I live in a two bed bungalow which was built 10 years ago but only has an open fire with back boiler for heating. How much would I be looking at to get oil installed in the house does anyone know?

That hugely depends on the type of boiler required, where you can put it, the amount of digging and making routes for pipework required, the location and construction of the base for the oil tank, size and type of oil tank, what heating controls, timers, stats and valves are required.
You don't say if you already have radiators or what condition they are in, do they need replacing, flushing clean or an entire system install.
You really need to get a few highly recommended installers around to survey and cost it up for you.
If you say where you are located, someone here may be able to recommend someone in your area.

    Thanks for the reply,

The house has radiators installed throughout and they are in very good condition. Space isn't an issue as there's loads of land attached to the house. I'm located in Wicklow

If you'd said fifty years ago that would have sounded about right but a house built without central heating in the last ten years (that wasn't an eco passive house etc) is incredible.

Was it a decision of yours' at the time?

No it wasn't mine at the time, back boiler for fire was the only heating they wanted I guess. I would have installed oil heating to begin with being used to it

Maybe oil prices were the reason. Over the previous 10 years (previous to the time the house was built) oil prices had continuously risen from $30 to $120 per barrel. Even though exchange rates were much more favorable back then. A lot of people were scared that not only would it get too expensive, but scarce also. Anyone remember the term "peak oil" being bandied about back then??

as k flyer said it isnt really possible to even guess at a price with out a site visit.
    but it wont be cheap
apart from the installation of the boiler, oil tank and the base, the system will need a proper flush. then the pipe work to connect the boiler to your heating system and heating controls.

do you plan on keeping the back boiler? some installers will not fit an oil boiler to a system with a back boiler, and/or keeping it could make the installation more expensive.

I don't mind if I don't have the back boiler being honest because if I had the oil heating I wouldn't really need it anymore.
