Applying for two jobs at the same company?

    Hi

I was wondering is there any unwritten rule regarding applying for two jobs within the same company? One job is higher level than the other.

Would it make it seem I don't have the determination to go gung ho for the higher level job and settle for anything (which is true but I don't want them to know).

Or it could seem that you are eager to work for that particular company and are willing to put work in, even if it means starting from the bottom.

Really depends on the company and the roles.
If it's a large company, it will make no difference. if the two roles are in different teams, then no one person will even see the two applications.
If it was a small company and you were confident of getting an interview for the higher position, I would be inclined to only apply for that one role.
