Hi I am thinking of doing the gr20 in summer. Has anyone done it before and do they have any tips?

I did small sections of it, but this was way back in 1997. Corsica is surprisingly mountainy (high enough that there is a winter ski resort) and away from the beaches can be very quiet (in other words you can be alone for most of the day). It is stunningly beautiful and while it can be very hot on the coast, it is rather pleasent when in the mountains, especially in the pine forests. I can still remember the heavy scent of pine in the air.

At the time we where told to avoid the French Foreign Legion army bases/camps - they had a reputation for being hostile to strangers. There were a few scattered around at the time and I came across one such camp but I never had any trouble and i'm not even sure if there are any left now.

You can also the occasional wet days in the mountains but nothing serious.

Bear in mind this was nearly 20 years ago - it might be more crowded now.
