Looking for fair local VW mechanic in Dublin to avoid extortionate dealership labour

Hi, could somebody please recommend a reasonable local mechanic that is comfortable with Volkswagen in particular? Nearest dealer charges €110 labour per hour not including VAT and seems to quote alot longer than time needed for job.
My car is outside warranty so don't need VW dealer stamps. Anyone near South West Dublin a bonus. All advice much appreciated. Thanks

You'd make in ~an hour. He's worth the drive.

So four hours in total, if one gets courtesy car...

What job do you need done?

Priority job is coolant temp sensor replaced. Along with couple of bits and bobs for upcoming NCT. 2007 9n3 Polo GTI 1.8T.

What did they price you at? 175 ish for the sensor supplied and fitted?

Nope, they quoted me €250. Told me it would take an hour and a half.

I was just alarmed when browsing a couple of resources on the net and most seem to say it's about a 10 minute job?

As you may have guessed already I could be considered 'mechanically challenged'.

How urgent is something like this... all I know is it's not something to fail an NCT which is late next week. Thanks for your assistance.

A main dealer won't really do much for less than an hours labour tbh. The sensor is around 50 quid.
