Can hot and cold ceramic tap inserts be interchanged?

I am trying to repair a dripping cold kitchen tap. It's the quarter turn ceramic type. Local hardware will only sell me a pair of the inserts. But the cold one (blue) turns in the opposite direction to the insert I am replacing. Is it OK to use the hot (red) insert on the cold supply, as it turns the 'correct' way? Or is…

There's no difference between the blue and red insert - apart from the way they turn (i.e. clockwise and anti-clockwise)
