Self Build DIY Value Analysis

    Hi everyone,

Hoping to build a house next year or the year after and having been dabbling with the idea of how much DIY I would like to take one. I would consider myself handy "enough" and having just completed a full house reno, I have installed most second fix items there is to install. So the logic is that I will have ~5 weeks vacation in a year that I would be willing to designate to the build. I will be PMing this build aswell. So those 5 weeks will be considered "free time" where I'm still getting vacation payed and thereafter I'd need to take leave without pay. So what do you think are some DIY task that would be worth my while completing myself in that 5 week period and potentially beyond assuming that I would be paid approx 170 net for each day I work.

    Some items I'm thinking of:
    1) Most second fix items eg. Flooring, painting, sanitary ware install, light fixtures, potentially kitchen cabinets etc
    2) plasterboard install
    3) roof tile install
    4)

The point here is not to complete everything myself but to get the best value for money. If I knew a task that would take 2 days to complete at a cost of €1k and I could do it in 3, then I might consider doing it myself.

    Thanks

You could also lay all the floor insulation and UFH pipes if your going the UFH route for heating.

Not a hard job to do really, just needs some attention to detail and then let the plumbers do the connections and pressure testing.

Could take a week or two on your own or less if you have a couple of hands to help you out. Not sure how much you would save though.
