New driveway, second hand house in estate

    Hi, 
    I have recently purchased a house in an estate in Cork. At the front of the house there is no driveway. I am the end of a terrace, there is a wide footpath just at the door and then directly in front of the footpath there is grass / shrub bed with enough length to let 1 car park if there was a driveway. This is the same set up for the 4 houses along the strip but the rest are rented so they wouldnt be making changes. We park across the grass so have to walk across this to get into the house. We would love to turn this grass / shrub bed area into a driveway. Does anyone know what I would need to do to get this changed to a driveway or who needs to be contacted or is there permission needed etc.

    Planning required for new vehicular entrance.
    Then pay council to dish the footpath.

    A photo would clarify.

    Photo would help.

    By the letter of the law you should get planning. However if it is a quiet estate that has rented accommodation around then chances of the alteration being reported or objected seems unlikely.

    Place a concrete ramp to the road footpath - this avoids the need to involve the council and provide a dish to the footpath.

    So, break the law and then place an item that can land the OP in the civil courts if someone injures themselves on it....yeah, sound advice bro....

    Ok, so OP sent me a daft ad with an Example of his house.
    I would say you will not get planning permission for this. It looks as if you have to cross over management company lands or LA lands just to create a vehicle entrance/place to park and it looks that you would not actually be in ownership of the land where the car would be parked.

    Thanks, I was thinking this would be the case but hoping it wasn't. Thanks for the clear-up! I think I'll stick to the extra 10 steps and save myself the hassle!
