    Hi All
I had to get a new roof on the shed that the swallows normally nest in. I asked the guys to try not to harm the nests built in the rafters, but they fell during the construction.

I have made wood half-bowls to mount on the rafters to help the swallows set up again, if they choose to. Now for the question. Should I mount a bowl where last years nests were or should I leave them free in case the swallows want to build from scratch (if they choose to return at all)? I've already mounted a couple on peaks that have not, as yet, been occupied.

I want to do all I can to help the little critters. I already have a muddy area made and I keep it wet. I know it's too early yet, but I'd hate for them to settle elsewhere this year. They are the highlight of my summer.

Any advice on how best to help them will, of course, be appreciated. :)

I think you have done enough. They won't mind building from scratch.

    Well done!
