I think you need to have served 12 months or more to get denied an australian visa.
Given the lax attitudes of irish courts to sentencing they should be ok.

True, though to be fair when I was living over there a few years back most Aussies have a really good view of the Irish (though some doormen can be pricks even if you're sober - they've very strict regulations that can lead to personal fines for them), which I didn't really expect from what I'd heard.
