Do you need to have a forthcoming test to get a third learner permit?

    Hi all,

Currently I am in the process of booking a driving test as my second learner permit is about to expire and I need to show evidence of booking a test to get a third learner permit.

My problem is that I'm not very good at driving and it is taking me much longer to get the hang of it than other people, so my question is can I book a forthcoming test, get a third learner permit and then cancel my forthcoming test? Would I be entitled to a refund? If not should I attempt a test just to see what it would be like?

    Regards,
    Michael

You have to either have done a test or have one booed to renew your leaner permit
You can book your test and cancel it for a later date
You will not be able to get a refund

    Yes, as above.

Firstly, you make the 'booking' which is a bit of a misnomer you aren't immediately given a date. This confirmation of a 'booking' is sufficient to get your permit.

Subsequently, a date will be arranged and you will be notified. I think you can postpone twice after which you take the date arranged for you or you lose your booking and have to pay again.
