Bitterness on FB - What's The Point?

A Facebook friend of mine posted up a link to a very bitter rant by a bisexual woman against the LGBT community and how it, in her opinion, marginalises bi people. She was " done" with the LGBT community and condemned them and wanted nothing more to do with them.

I've also seen this friend post up a link by a young black woman who claimed that white people who befriended black people were really just using them, patronising them and degrading them and again condemned them without any right of reply. She said she would unfriend every white person on her FB list and that was that.

Are these angry outbursts really that helpful or constructive? If you go around dismissing a group of people without bothering to hear their side of the story are you digging yourself a big hole? What's the point really?

    Attention seeking dramatics.

It really isn't any more complicated than that.

To me, the described behavior usually is indicative of a deeper problem with the poster.

You call her a Facebook friend, is she as actual friend who you have also added on Facebook? If she is just unfollow her and let her at it, if she isn't an actual friend then unfriend her. Simple.

My sister likes to do those annoying rants, even if u unfriend her she still messages me her little rants.... still not as annoying as her food posts - congratulations for making a salad, do you want a medal?

No, no. My FB friend is quite a lovely person. It's not her making these rants, but people on the links she has posted up on FB. Maybe my FB friend wants to generate a bit of debate by posting them up, but people rarely comment on them.

People tend to rant on the internet though, it's kind of it's "thing"

Seriously? There is no "point". People like to inhabit their own echo chamber online and it is a sanctuary to post all sorts of rubbish. Look at this very forum.
