6000 to spend

Hi guys, looking for any advice at all about buying a used car in the range of 6,000 euros.

So up to now I have been driving an 02 Ford Focus hatchback, 1.4l petrol. Was very happy with it and would be looking to get something along those lines. Should I just stick to the Focus again or is there other similar cars to that that are better/nicer/more reliable. I only do about 5-6 thousand miles a year, mostly for short journeys so not looking for any bigger more powerful cars.

Any advice at all where to start would be greatly appreciated.

A Hyundai i30, Kia Ceed or Toyota Auris are worth a look at. Petrol versions of these would be more powerful and fuel efficient than a similar Focus and will also have cheap motor tax on the newer tax system.

Thanks Bazz, that's exactly the kind of info I'm looking for. Just to get me started on the search for a replacement.

And I have one for sale for €6000, exactly as much as OP is looking to spend.

It's a diesel though, so probably not suitable.

Another civic vote here. Get the 1.8!

    1.4 would do I suppose.

Auto or manuaL? Uncle looking for a reliable auto

Manual. There weren't any 8th gen Diesel Civic automatics as far as I know, and petrol hatchback 1.8 automatic i-Shift is known to be awkward.

I'm not sure about saloon model if 1.8 also had i-Shift or other type of auto.
1.3 hybrid in that had CVT which IMO is fairly good.

1.8 saloon has regular torque converter box.
If you want a reliable automatic, a Prius is hard to beat.
